Samokov's festivities

Traditionally every summer the town of Samokov celebrates its holiday St. Simeon of Samokov on August 21st

The celebrations begin on August 15th with a church service and a feast of the Assumption at the Metropolitan Church. 

Here is the program of the week of 15-21 of August:

The festival "Cinema under the Stars", part of the celebration, starts on August 16th with the special participation of Stoyan Doychev, Philip Avramov /Fitsata/ on August 17th and Marian Valev on August 18th. Three evenings with three wonderful films await us. The screenings will be outdoors, on the stage in the Tourist Garden. They will start at 9 pm on August 16th with the acclaimed film "Chalga", followed by "The Naked Truth about the Band "Zhiguli" on August 17th and "Elevation" on August 18th, which will conclude the film marathon.

"Evening at the Museum" will be held on August 18th at 7.30 p.m. in the courtyard of the Historical Museum. This year, Samokov musicians, winners of prestigious international awards, will perform. Diana Chausheva is 15 years old, but has already performed with her violin at international competitions in the country and Europe. Antonia Mircheva has been playing the flute for more than 13 years. Winner of more than 40 prizes and awards and recipient of a full scholarship to the XXX International Forum in Dikirsch, Luxembourg. She has been a soloist of many orchestras in the country and abroad.

You will also witness a classical guitar performance by Georgi Dimitrov - Jojo. He is a winner of numerous awards from international competitions. Georgi is the first classical guitarist invited to give a recital at the prestigious Bach Festival in Leipzig in 2024.

A mini-football tournament organised by the Municipality of Samokov and the Samokov Sports Complex will be held from the 18th to the 20th of August. A table tennis tournament, a children's puppet show and a children's party will be held on August 19th.

On the 19th of August the bands "Bendida" and "Konkurent" will perform on the stage of the "Zachary Zograf" Square. On the 20th of August we will be entertained by a youth concert featuring Son Kolyasho, Torinotto and Pasha and Crisco. On the 21st the festive concert will feature the rock band "Signal", folk singer Nelina plus a pyro-music show. 

Throughout the week, a tourist attraction train will be going around to the delight of children.
